JR Turner brings more than 25 years of law enforcement experience across U.S. Army Military Police, civilian policing, and federal government service to every case he accepts.
Military Service
Investigator Turner launched his career with five years in the U.S. Army Military Police Corps. After serving overseas, he was selected for the Fort Myer Military Police Company; one of the Army's most elite assignments, where the unit earned the Brigadier General Jeremiah P. Holland Award in 1995, recognizing it as the top Military Police company-size unit in the Army. As Non-Commissioned Officer in Charge, Investigator Turner led security and protective details for heads of state and foreign dignitaries at Arlington National Cemetery and Fort Myer, working alongside the U.S. Secret Service on presidential protection assignments. Over the course of his career, he met Presidents George H.W. Bush, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, and Barack Obama. He was also one of two officers chosen to represent his company in a regional law enforcement competition in the Washington, D.C. area.
Civilian Law Enforcement & Federal Service
Following his military career, Investigator Turner served as a civilian police officer in the Hampton Roads area, building expert-level knowledge across patrol operations, criminal investigations, warrant service, courtroom testimony, crime prevention, and patrol supervision. He later transitioned to the U.S. Department of Defense, where he rose to the rank of Police Lieutenant and academy instructor. In that capacity, he served as a subject matter expert and taught coursework in criminal investigations, domestic violence intervention, crime prevention, probable cause, report writing, accident investigation, active shooter response, Virginia firearms certification, defensive tactics, and search and seizure. He co-developed and taught the Active Shooter Response for Law Enforcement Instructor course.
